Analysis
Throughout the past three weeks, my class and I have been working on a mural to present to the residents of Paradise Hills. We are doing this because some parts of Paradise Hills have some blank walls that could really use a mural and everyone appreciates a beautiful mural. We spent the first week brainstorming our ideas for what we should draw for our mural. Initially, we decided to go for two hands reaching out towards a peace sign. The hands would represent Earth and that we are constantly in search of peace. During the second week, we received a giant wooden slab to paint our final mural on. When we received our slab, we realized that our idea would not work because our mural would be really small. We then came up with a new idea and built off of it. Our new idea would consist of peace and symbols of peace emerging out of a broken wall. The wall would represent challenges in life and that we have to break through in order to reach a state of peace. My group and I spent the whole second week drawing and painting our mural. During the final week, my group and I refined and finished our mural. We then presented our mural to the residents of Paradise Hills.
I think the most important point expressed throughout this entire project was that we are doing it for the Paradise Hills community. When we were designing our mural, we decided to go with ideas and concepts that we heard from several Paradise Hills members. Some people wanted bright, vibrant colors in the mural. We also noticed that the Paradise Hills community was very close and tight knit, so that is why we went with something that represents everyone.

Something that was memorable for me this week was presenting with my group to the community members of Paradise Hills. This took place at the Paradise Hills Library on Tuesday, December 8, 2015. I was very excited to present my mural because it was something I spent a lot of time on and the finished product turned out really beautiful. I especially liked the fact that a lot of people approached me and asked questions about my mural. That showed me that a lot of people were interested in the mural and that it wouldn't go unnoticed.
During the event, we had this ballot box where people would vote for their top two murals. When the results are calculated, we would present these mural ideas to business owners around the Paradise Hills community. If they accepted, we would hold a public mural painting event at their business. Not only would the business have a beautiful painting, but the community would also get together and have an unique bonding experience. However, the results haven't been calculated yet and I am really anxious to find out who won.
Conceptual Connections
This whole mural project was something we had been building up the whole semester to do. Honestly, I would have never imagined doing something to this scale at the beginning of the year. I noticed that everything that I did with my art teacher during this semester has greatly helped me in this project. The one trait that really helped me this project was being creative. Throughout the semester, we did several assignments that helped us expand our creativity. Little did I know that it would aid me a lot for the project. When I was brainstorming ideas with my group, I was able to come up with several unique ideas for our mural.
