For Art Class this week, we had to pick a song that meant something special to me as a person and create a drawing that represented it. In the beginning, I had no idea for what my song choice would be. I was lost. I was worried that the song I chose was going to be bad. However, after careful reflection, I came up with the perfect song. The song I would play for the class would be We Will Rock You by Queens. Now for me, the drawing part was actually easy. The one line that anyone would remember from this song is "We will rock you!". That's why for my picture I drew a rock and different interpretations of what a rock is. In the end, I was proud of my end product that I created.
For Humanities Class, we started talking about interview questions and how to conduct an interview. My wonderful teacher gave us several examples and pushed our thinking on how to conduct a though provoking interview. I found the process to be both fascinating and helpful for our upcoming mural project. One of my favorite parts from this week was this little interview segment my teacher showed me. It was from a local musician called Chunky Sanchez. In this interview, Sanchez talks about how he and other Mexicans had their names Americanized as a child. One day, this kid named Facundo shows up. After several attempts to change his name, the teachers and staff gave up and Facundo was the only Mexican child in the school to keep his name. The reason why she showed us this clip is because we want to ask questions that will get stories from the interviewee.
For my senior project this week, we were required to make a video talking about our senior project. In this video, we would propose our senior project, why we chose and how it would benefit the community. (If you want to see the video, click here) For my proposal I talked about how gaming can improve our cognitive thinking and how it could help us in real life.

The most useful idea that was discussed this week was on what a good interview should look like. My teacher made our class discuss in small groups of what a good interview should look like. We also discussed on the bad qualities of an interview and what we shouldn't include. We then made it into a whole class discussion and then shared out our ideas. In the end, we got a meaty list of what should and shouldn't happen in an interview. I think the most important point from this lesson is to get us prepared for the interviews we will conducting on the local residents of Paradise Hills.
The illustration I can relate to the most in Art class this week was the drawing I made for my song. The reason on why I relate to it the most is because it represents the song and the values that associate with it. I put a lot of time and effort into my illustration because I wanted it to look good and I wanted to present it in its best possible state. The drawing also represented my growing creativity as an artist. I recall rating myself poorly in the beginning of the year. Just like I stated in the previous blog post, it is constantly improving and growing.
Conceptual Connections
From what I've did this week in Art, it is safe to say that I am growing more independently of my drawing style. When I first started the class, I used to use trace everything I drew so it would be more presentable. Now, I only trace in rare situations. My art teacher has made us adapt to new challenges and to not rely on the easy way out. From what I've seen in Art class the past few months, it is that we always draw what represents us. I was guided on what to draw in the beginning but now our work is completely original and unique.

For my Honors Picture this week, I drew a picture of what my senior project is. In my first picture, I am doing my Senior Project Proposal. In the second picture, I am researching potential games and how it can relate to our everyday tasks. In the third picture, I am running experiments with several classmates. In my fourth and final picture, I am presenting my final product on Senior Project Day.
